11 – Introduction to Imām Mālik & His Muwaṭṭa | Mufti Ismail Moosa

This Ramaḍān intensive endeavours to present an overview of Imām Mālik’s life and his Muwaṭṭa, including a detailed study of the first few āḥadīth from it.

This session covers the following discussions:

- Who is Abu Mas’ūd al Ansārī

- How the first narration could be a means of proving the demise date/year of Abu Mas’ūd al Ansārī

- Discussion of Abu Mas’ūd al Ansārī using the words 'ا ليس قد علمتَ' to address Mughīrah instead of 'ا لستَ'

- Discussion on the different ways to pronounce Jibrīl, its meaning and his status

- Discussion of the word 'نزل' - in which form did he descend?

- Discussion on when he descended - before hijrah, day after mi'rāj - when was mi’rāj?

- Different meanings for the ف in 'فصلى'
